What does the Compatible Decision Quiz do?
The Compatible Decision Quiz [CDQ] is designed to give you a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationship. The CDQ consists of 76 short statements, most of which will be relevant to your experience. Doing the CDQ involves sorting the statements according to how satisfied you are in your relationship right now. The CDQ generates a report based on how you sort the statements. You get information about your level of satisfaction in each dimension, as well as, resources to help you enhance each one.
Most people find that simply sorting the statements is surprisingly helpful.
How was the Compatible Decision Quiz developed?
We developed the Compatible Decision Quiz [CDQ] because we wanted to give people an interesting way to assess their relationship satisfaction. We wanted the process to be fun, meaningful and relevant.
The nine dimensions assessed in the CDQ were carefully constructed to reflect the most important aspects of a love relationship. Decades of research and years of clinical experience combined to produce the dimensions and the statements that comprise them.
Because relationships are complicated,we realized that simple yes/no or multiple choice questionnaires are not sophisticated enough to do the job. Besides, they are really boring!
Instead, we designed a unique method that is engaging and fun. We found that using statements rather than asking questions is a more effective way of accessing people’s thoughts and feelings. Placing the statements on a grid makes it easy for people to get involved and to enjoy the process.
Who developed the Compatible Decision Quiz?
The CDQ was developed by two Registered Psychologists, Bea Mackay, Ph.D. and Warren Weir, Ph.D., both of whom live and work in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Their combined years of clinical practice exceeds 50 years and involves counselling hundreds of individuals and couples!
A local web developer, David Montie, BA Psych, joined them to provide strong technological expertise and creativity.
